Hi, I just joined this tribe to get a little more info. I learned how to spin in 2005, but didn't do too much cause I had a very heavy beginner spindle and difficult fleece to work with. Then this June, I made a CD spindle and got some Merino roving and that was it. I took off like the wind! I then bought a used Ashford Kiwi in early July. I made myself 4 spindles, a CD spindle, a small lace spindle, a bottom whorl and one that looks like an akha. I spun and plied my dog's fur with silk and intend on using it to make at least part of a shawl. I'm also spinning suri alpaca the same color as the dog's fur to use it in the shawl. If I wanted to use only "chiengora" it would take me years since I have Shih Tzus and they don't really shed much.
